Students who are learning English as a second language or who may speak another language or several languages in addition to English, attend classes where they work towards achieving a level of English language proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening that is equal to that of a native English speaking student in their grade level. There is an emphasis on the acquisition of Academic English to target and accelerate the students' language development to facilitate academic success.
ELL students may also qualify to attend a science class or social studies class where they will learn grade level curriculum in a content and language based classroom. Our program also provides teacher support in social studies, math, reading, and academic support classes. ELL students also attend many classes with other teachers and students to enrich their educational and social experience. We encourage family communication and participation in our program and are always willing to schedule a time to meet or talk to you on the phone about any questions or concerns you may have about your children.
